Have you ever noticed how item usage goes in cycles? For instance, a whole month can pass
and you haven’t touched a pair of pants that the month prior you were wearing at least once
a week?  Now for some reason, those pants won’t see their usage cycle again for a few months.  (more…)

My Essentials: AS INK REMAINS

By Emily Smith

You know how I love rounding up my essentials for daily living; those special items that
make my life peachier and have the ability to change a frown from upside down…well, I equally
love knowing what products are on other’s must-have list.  Today, I’m thrilled to bits to bring you
the style essentials of one of my closest and dearest friends. These are the pieces in her closet that
make her a street style photographer’s dream!

Noémie McGovern is the author of fashion/design/art/food blog AS INK REMAINS based out
of Toronto, Canada and she is one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing.
She also happens to be recently engaged and has a super fun, inspiring and untraditional Wedding
Wednesday weekly feature, that fills your head with fabulous ideas – whether you’re tying the knot
or simply have a love of all things pretty! From fashion to food, she’s got you covered.

Without further ado, Noémie talks style essentials:

01 // PARKA: I purchased this Cynthia Steffe parka last winter when it went on sale, and
it’s been one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. I can remove the hood, lining,
and lower arms and it suddenly becomes a great spring jacket.

02 // LOOSE TOPS: I’m always into loose tops, especially now that H&M is fully stocked with
them in every colour and pattern.

03 // BLACK BAG: I purchased this one while I was living in China, so it has a bit of
sentimental value. I’ve gotten tons of compliments over it, and it’s the right size to carry
everything I need.

04 // ANKLE BOOTIES: These are from Topshop, and although the heels are taller than
I usually wear, they are super comfortable.

05 // BLACK SKINNIES: I buy mine higher waisted (I feel much too old to be wearing
anything that I can’t bend over in) and they are usually what I pull on when I don’t feel like
trying too hard.

How would you describe your style?

If I had to sum it up in a few words, I would say - “Laid back with vintage and masculine
sensibilities – I love a tailored aesthetic but comfort is always key with the clothes I wear. “

Thank you so much for sharing your essentials with with us; I am smitten with those boots!
If you haven’t yet been acquainted with AS INK REMAINS do check her out,
you’ll be so glad you did!
