Finding the right skin care can be tricky; finding the right skin care for baby can be even trickier. Their skin is so sensitive, delicate and fragile. Surprisingly, many baby products have harsh chemicals in them that can irritate baby’s skin. We definitely don’t want that! What we do want is something natural, something gentle, something soothing. Something like Mum + Bub – a naturally-derived, pawpaw fruit infused skin care collection for baby & you, brought to you by the Aden + Anais family.
Gentle enough for baby, yet sophisticated enough for you, mum + bub™ is infused with fresh, fermented pawpaw fruit and was formulated with the help of Ellen Gendler, M.D., a leading New York City dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic contact dermatitis. Known for decades in Australia for its skin care benefits, pawpaw fruit relieves, cleanses and protects skin when applied topically.
I was really looking forward to trying out these delicious smelling products. One, because they are for babies and mamas. Two, because they are made from awesome ingredients (side note, on the ingredients list it includes LOVE). Three, because obviously I’m going to test new skin care products on my skin before my baby’s skin – it’s gotta pass the test to go into the nursery.
To get an idea of all the good stuff that Mum + Bub products are made of, let’s talk about what it’s not made of. They are free from: phytoestrogen + parabens + added hormone disrupters + petroleum oils + phthalates + dioxanes from sulfates + BPA + gluten and soy + petrochemicals + DEA + artificial colors. YAY!
Ingredients to love – grape seed oil, papaya, and shea butter.
I stepped into the shower with the hair + body wash; it was refreshing, gentle and left my skin nice and soft. Afterwards, I used the ultra-gentle lotion; which has a nice subtle fragrance, goes on lightly and vanishes into your skin. To test out the soothing ointment, I tried it on my lips. It really helped with chapping.
These products passed the Mama test with flying colors and can safely be put in the nursery to wait for baby girl’s arrival. That’s not to say that I won’t be using them a couple of more times before she comes, but I definitely can’t wait to give her a bath with her Mum + Bub! Have any of you tried their products yet? I’d love to hear what you thought!
