Little A. could play all day. He is full of creativity and imagination, it overflows from him. Sometimes, I look at him and want to stop time – I don’t want to see him grow up too fast. I want to slow it all down, you know? I want to keep him small enough to climb into my arms and under the table tents we make. I want him to always have the ability to put the busyness of life on hold and make time to play.
His dad and I have to remember to do that. There are days when it comes so naturally, but there are times when it doesn’t seem like a priority. But playing, creating, imagining, dreaming, making adventures – it’s to be cherished. Whether you have children or not, you have the memories of your own childhood and favorite things you loved doing. Why not do one of them today. Mud pie, anyone?
In our home, playing trains is a big winner amongst Mr. Smith and Little A. – watching them build the tracks and create an entire world of play is magical. I like to get playful in the kitchen with my little guy; we make a mess, laugh, and always end up covered in flour. As a family, we like to have adventures and outings together – that’s how we discover new places and explore new playgrounds!
The folks at Gymboree want you to join them in celebrating and sharing these cherished moments in childhood! To inspire you, they have created an adorable video to kick off their campaign. It reminds us to take the time and play today! Watch the reel and then share your favorite cherished childhood moments in the comments! Be sure to use the hashtag #cherishchildhood when commenting and sharing this video with friends (on facebook or twitter). Enjoy!
