Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with a little bit of fun! This weekend, we had a casual get together amongst a few good friends and made it into a Valentine’s day party. I covered the table with a roll of kraft paper, which can serve as a fun colouring mat for kids and easy clean up. I set the scene using elements from Minted’s Ombre Love Party Decor. I customized the party sign to read “U + ME = US” , a special saying between my husband and I, hung up the ombre garland, used stickers and pink straws for the drinking glasses, and gold striped washi tape to spell “L O V E” on the table. It was simple and playful. You can choose from party signs, circle garlands, personalizable bunting banner, table confetti, party crowns and much more to create your perfect party.
We made some easy-to-eat snacks for the kids to munch on and a tasty pitcher of pink apple iced tea to wash them down. It didn’t require too much effort, just a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make apples and watermelon all the more desirable! I also baked heart-shaped chocolate cakes with raspberry glaze – which turned out to be a favourite. And of course, we didn’t want to send anyone home empty-handed, so the day before we made favour bags filled with dark chocolate cranberry coconut bark to give to our guests.
Pink Iced Tea for Valentine’s Day
5 bags of Cinnamon Apple Herbal Tea
1/2 cup of Turbinado Sugar
12 ice cubes + cold filtered water
Boil water. Place five tea bags in a 1 L glass pitcher and pour boiled water to fill up half the pitcher.
Cover and let steep for 30 minutes.
Remove the tea bags and add in the turbinado while the tea is hot.
Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved (you could use raw honey alternatively).
Fill the rest of the pitcher up with ice cubes or ice-cold filtered water (or sparkling water). Serve and enjoy!
Aiden had a ton of fun and got to hand out a few of his valentines. It was really cute; except when he wanted them back. That was a bit awkward and required some one on one explaining. However, he decided it was best to return the valentines to everyone after all 😉 I had a nice time too, and I must say, enjoyed drinking out of a glass with a heart sticker on it and a bubblegum pink paper straw – it was all rather festive and mood enhancing! Just the sort of thing one needs in the middle of one of the coldest winters ever.
