I kind of wanted to pull my hair out today, but I’m still thankful for this life I’ve made – one doesn’t negate the other, right?
I may feel like I’m spinning in circles and toe tapping, reaching to find my footing; searching for the ground beneath me. Where is that foundation that I’ve built? My family, my faith, my work, my blog, my creative outlets. Oh. It is there. It’s spanning a vast square footage and I sometimes feel like I’m not big enough to cover it all; not all at once at least. I may feel like little pieces of me are scattered everywhere, but I’m still thankful – one doesn’t negate the other.
Oh, but to have it all!!! I want to give my full attention to my three year old. I want to hide away and snuggle with my eleven week old. I want a slow, conversational dinner with my husband. I want to design for hours in photoshop. I want to spend a quiet afternoon in prayer. I have one hundred ideas right…this…moment… and posts I want to share on the blog. I want to connect with you. I want to visit with my family. I want to go out for coffee with friends. I want to paint the paintings that I’ve carried in my heart for 7 years.
But I’m still thankful for this life right now.
Because even though I feel stretched – there is enough of me to go around. And even though, I have to tell Little A. to hold on a sec, it teaches him patience; and even though Mr. Smith and I aren’t having long dinners over candlelight every night, our love and respect for each other is greater than ever; and even though I’m not on my knees for hours, my God knows that I love Him and that I try to honour Him in all that I do.
I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to feel this way; that my biggest concern is how to be more for those around me and how to make room for more of what I’m passionate about.
I may be dog-tired at the end of each day, I may wish I did some days differently, I may wonder about things I never got to do – but I will be thankful for this life and each well-lived day.
