Life is busy. Work, chores, school, kids, errands, gym, …did I say laundry...the list goes on. Raise your hand if you know what I’m talking about. You’re always on the go and you’re lucky if you can scarf a healthy breakfast or squeeze in a tasty salad at lunch. That’s why I do smoothies. I can literally pack a ton of fruits and vegetables, superfoods, boosters…and just about anything else in them that will help my body keep on keeping on.
Recently I got a sweet package from Almond Breeze to try their delicious almond milk. Confession, I’ve been using and loving their almond milk for years! It tastes great over homemade granola and on top of hot oats, but my favourite use is in my smoothies. I think you guys already know just how much I love my smoothies (hint: check out my instagram for pictures and bonus recipes!). I was thrilled to put to use my carton of Original Unsweetened Almond Breeze in the Hamilton Beach SIngle Serve Blender – smoothie anyone?!
I am always up for a berry banana combo – it’s an absolute staple in our household. It’s often the base of many other creative smoothies and I’ve tried adding anything from kale, pomegranates, and Spirulina in it! For this particular day’s recipe I used one cup of frozen mixed berries, 1/2 a banana sliced, one cup of Original Unsweetened Almond Breeze, 1 teaspoon of organic virgin coconut oil and two teaspoons of raw cacao nibs. I blended until smooth and it was ready in thirty seconds. I grabbed it to go (not before snapping a picture and instagraming the awesome swag of course!) and headed out the door with two kids in tow. That’s pretty simple, right? It’s my fuel on the go and literally keeps me going until I can sit down for a meal or have my next super packed smoothie!
There are lots of flavours for Almond Breeze to try out – I’ve tested a few and am also a fan of the unsweetened chocolate. Almond Breeze has a natural, creamy taste and texture that is smooth and delicious to drink on its own or in smoothies, over cereal, in hot chocolate and more!
Making smoothies on the go is an easy way to stay healthy and to get your daily dose of good nutrition. Don’t forget all the great booster options like; flax seeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, almond butter, acai berries, pea protein, walnuts, pumpkin seeds…etc. Switching it up keeps your smoothies interesting and your intake of a range of vitamins, optimal!
