You may know that we’re not much for TV around here. I’ve mentioned it many times over the years that it just hasn’t been our family thing. However, last year we inherited our friend’s old television set, which we’ve used to watch DVDs on movie night. Yes, that’s one TV for the whole family. We keep it simple folks and we’ll see how long that can hold out as the kids get older! We love our movie nights together – they are the best with snacks, blankets, and a feature that we can all watch together.
As we move into the holiday season, there is a long list of favourites that must be watched! It’s just tradition. I have some favourites, Mr. Smith has his – we have new favs together…and then of course, Little A. now has a few of his own. Beginning with some Halloween fun, Thanksgiving classics (oh yes, we celebrate the American Thanksgiving too, since hubby is from USA) and leading us right into the Christmas bonanza!! We have SO many Christmas favourites.
Holiday Movies We Love
- Frosty the Snowman
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
- A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving
- The Polar Express
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Home Alone
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- Little Women
- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
- Love Actually
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
This year, I have a feeling we might even discover some new titles to add to our collection! Staples Canada has graciously connected with The Best of this Life and wants to know what our family’s “Ultimate Holiday Movie” is! ULTIMATE, that’s a big challenge. Of course we accepted the challenge, which also came with a new Roku streaming media player and a ton of super yummy movie night snacks. Fun! We will be streaming our way through the holiday season, with a plethora of new movie choices. The Roku 2 works with our …ahem…classic TV and now we have a ton of new movie options! Our family movie nights just got upgraded. We’re officially part of the #StreamInto2015 Campaign with Staples Canada – so look out for updates and live tweets throughout the next month.
It’s all in the name of research folks. Yep, you can count on us to narrow it down and we’ll reveal the Ultimate Holiday Movie right here on November 28th – so tune in or stream in for the big reveal, because there’s going to be a few extra surprises going around, if you know what I mean, wink wink, nudge nudge, stream stream.
In the meantime, do you have any streaming suggestions?
I’m new to the game – channels, apps, and movie suggestions are appreciated!
*The Best of this Life is part of the Staples Canada #StreamInto2015 Campaign and as such received movie night snacks and a streaming device to participate in the holiday fun! All opinions are my own.
