Memories are one of our most precious gifts. They connect us with our past, with the joys that we have lived and shared. For some people, mementos and journals hold their memories – for me, photographs are what transport me to a moment in time. As I look at a picture, I immediately remember what I was feeling at the time. I remember the colours of my environment, the smells, and everything in between. Photography has always been something that I connect with, so it’s no surprise that in our home you will find many pictures! Some I have taken, some I am in, some are of landscapes and places that mean something to us in some capacity.
As we near the 1st birthday of our daughter, I am beginning to look back on the photographs of this year. There are too many to count! From the day she arrived up until this very day, I have pictures of our darling girl. There are pictures of tiny feet, big smiles, first crawls, and many cuddles. There are so many beautiful memories.
I wanted to add a few special pictures of Abigail as a newborn to our home to remind us of how tiny this angel once was! I chose a few of my favourite pictures; one on the day of her arrival home, one at a couple of weeks with me kissing her, one of her in her daddy’s hands – and finally a collage of close ups at all her little features.
The online destination for Canadians wanting to turn cherished moments into memorable masterpieces for themselves or as beautiful gifts for friends and family is ookpix.com. As an official ookster, yeah I’m down with the owl, I created a gorgeous photo canvas last year while I was pregnant with Abby and knew it was the place to return for more decor goodies. You can choose from high-quality products such as the photo canvas, acrylic prints, calendars and photo books.
I chose four 6×6 acrylic photographs that are 1-inch thick and display photos very elegantly. Ookie calls them INSTAcrylic, since they are great for square photographs. The process was very easy. I simply uploaded my photos from my computer into the ookpix site, edited them, and previewed my finished products. I received my confirmation email and within the promised delivery time my pictures arrived. Did I mention that since ookpix is 100% Canadian, they offer free delivery anywhere in Canada? Wow, go Ookie!
Opening them up was like it was MY birthday! I let our a little happy squeal as I unwrapped each one. They turned out so perfect! The colour of the photographs is rich and high-quality and the acrylic slabs are stunning, truly. In my opinion, they are timeless and elegant – an ideal choice for the nursery bookshelf, living room mantel, or office (your co-workers will swoon).
