This past weekend, I sent my big sis, Jess, on a very important mission. A beauty mission. Ladies, I know you know what I mean when I say – I was on the hunt for the perfect product. I recently had my hair highlighted blonde and let’s just say, my naturally soft hair took an unfamiliar turn. Between the fresh highlights and the dry winter’s air – my hair has been in desperate need of a shampoo that will not completely destroy it. These mornings, I look a bit like a frizzed out poodle.
Since I have my hands full on the home front – I asked my sister for a BIG favour. I heard wonderful things about a Beauty Supply Outlet open to the public in Toronto, where she could get answers to my burning questions (…why is my hair kinky all of a sudden?) and find me a fabulous shampoo that wouldn’t dry the mess out of my hair.
She gladly accepted the mission, with a promise of a few products for herself to sweeten the deal! Little did I know that she was on her own beauty mission: to find a plant-based straightening lotion to tame her naturally unruly, curly hair and create into glamorous sleek locks. She also wanted to inquire about professional straighteners that would work on her thick curls. So, she set off on a Sunday afternoon, to visit 14 Church Street’s Beauty Supply Outlet location. It’s a really lovely location, situated right near the St-Lawrence Market in the T Dot.
Upon entering the store, Jess was greeted by a friendly beauty expert. She asked her for some help in locating the type of products she was looking for. The knowledgeable associate lead her to one of her personal favourite lines by Alterna Haircare, called Bamboo. This line is formulated with organic kendi oil as well as organic bamboo extract to strengthen, moisturize, and smooth the hair. She said it was exactly what my hair needed and even had my sister feel her own hair, to prove just how effective it was. Sold! The Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Anti-Frizz Shampoo is mine.
Next, the beauty expert recommended Phytodefrisant Botanical Straightening Balm for my sister’s hair. It’s an award-winning, heat-activated, smoothing balm which hydrates, softens, and protects unruly hair. It also happens to be a plant-based formula made without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. Perfect! Along with her quest for smooth hair, she inquired about a high-end straightener. The associate helped her navigate through the various options and ultimately my sis added the Paul Mitchell Chevron Express Ion Smooth+ to her Christmas wish list (it’s part of BSO RED HOT DEALS for only $99.99!).
After making some excellent hair care choices, Jess checked out the extensive collection of nail care available at the Beauty Supply Outlet. The Nordic Collection by OPI had her name on it, so it ended up in her beauty haul – along with some racy card-inspired tattoo nail art that was at such a fantastic red hot price, she couldn’t resist. I can just see her wearing those on New Year’s Eve!
I am so excited to get my hands on my new shampoo when my sister comes home to Ottawa for the holidays. She scored some amazing RED HOT DEALS at The Beauty Supply Outlet and is sure to be checking her inbox for all the latest sales. You can take advantage of their low prices too by signing up for their eNewsletter at www.thebso.com. Only the best deals, straight to your inbox.
When I asked my sister how she liked her first experience at BSO, she said “I’ve got 99 problems, but now my hair ain’t one!”. Ha, ha! Now that’s a great review.
