If you stop everything you’re doing and just watch, you will see it. Sometimes it’s loud, sometimes it’s quiet. At times it’s secretive, imaginative, wild, free – and at other moments it’s skillful and structured. When you pause your busyness and look up, it’s nearly always right in front of you.
The spirit of play.
There isn’t a time during the day that my son doesn’t want to play in some form or another. Through his playfulness he communicates, connects, explores, and discovers. He learns, observes, exerts and is joyful. Play is such an important part of childhood!

The essence behind the brand Peekaboo Beans and the vision for its founder, Traci Costa, is encouraging play. As a mother of two, Traci quickly realized the importance of “Free play” in a child’s life and became a strong advocate on the topic, devoting Peekaboo Beans to be the best playwear in the world.
I first learned about Peekaboo Beans from Vicky Bisson, an Ottawa PB stylist. She reached out to me to see if I would be interested in learning more about the brand and reviewing a few pieces from the fall 2015 collection. Peekaboo Beans is a direct sales brand, also known as “The Peekaboo Beans Vine” and is made up of mothers across the land, some full-time moms, some full time working moms from all walks of life, passionately united together to bring Peekaboo Beans to the world!
“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.” – Mr. Rogers
Vicky styled a cute outfit for Aiden that he absolutely loved! When he put his Nebula pants ($44) and Dino Dynamite Hoodie($54) on for the first time, I asked him if he liked it and he said “It makes me feel brave. Like I can do anything.”
Does that not speak for itself? What a precious sentiment.
The Peekaboo Beans designs are perfect for running and climbing on the playground and playing in the classroom. As a busy kindergartener, this outfit is just the sort of comfy, fun, cool clothing that my son wants to be wearing. In fact, it’s his new favourite thing to wear! Which means, we’ve already had it in the laundry several times and the fabric washes beautifully.
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” – Fred Rogers
As a mom who values play, connecting with a brand like Peekaboo Beans, who at its core feels the same way as I do about the importance of kids playing is exciting in of itself. Add to that their excellent quality, ethical manufacturing, toxin-free fabrics, not to mention super comfortable and unique styles – and well, you’ve got a winning line of children’s clothing that parents everywhere are discovering and loving.
To shop these amazing kids clothes, connect with Vicky at her online shop as well as facebook, twitter, and instagram. She’s available to help you find the right pieces, colours, and sizes for your little beans.
