Here’s a little secret you may not know about me…when I was a kid I was a major crafter. I mean, I had my own craft table and loads of supplies. After school and weekends were filled with painting, glueing, sewing, and creating just about anything!
Fast forward to the present day, with the world of Pinterest at my finger tips and all of the craft inspiration a tiny girl could dream of – and you’d think I’d be that same busy crafting bee. Except I’m not. Not even close! I marvel at the incredible DIY projects I see my friends create or in magazines. I’m inspired and even, on whims have delved into some DIYs. But, for the most part, I like my crafts short and sweet.
I like the easy button! I like being able to make something (nice) in the length of time it takes me to sip my favourite Lavazza espresso, if you get my drift.
So today, I’m sharing with you one of my favourite grade school crafts. I can’t tell you how many tins I’ve covered in my day – creating pencil holders, hair elastic organizers, and plastic bag containers. But today, we’re making a vase. A simple vase that only requires an empty coffee tin and a piece of paper large enough to cover it in your choice of colour and print.
Place your empty tin over the paper and make the height mark. Using a ruler, draw a line where you will cut. Cut length wise and glue the strip of paper onto the tin. That. Is. It.
Fill her up with some flowers and voila! A nice looking vase that adds some seasonal colour to your decor. And if you have a kiddo who’s as crafty as I was, let ’em go nuts and decorate it with glitter glue, stickers, paint and googly eyes.
Now, back to my espresso.
I absolutely adore my Lavazza Caffé Espresso – a 100% Arabica blend from Central and South America with highly aromatic notes, delicious flavor, and a rich body. A nice cup after lunch is such a treat on these cold afternoons we’ve been having.
