It’s almost time for Dad’s special day – and just like we celebrated moms in a big way, throwing fathers a party and showering them with love is just as important. My husband is an incredible dad; everyday I get to see him in action with our children and he constantly amazes me. He’s present, giving, patient and loving – showing them lots of attention with his time.
To kick off your Father’s Day get together, I’ve got just the drink to toast dad with. It’s called Horse’s Neck, made with Dujardin V.S.O.P. Brandy, ginger ale and lemon. Dujardin V.S.O.P. Brandy has a gorgeous golden colour, is rich in taste and carries aromas of sweet honey, orange zest and clove spice – which pairs perfectly with the ginger ale.
I actually like to make this drink with spicy ginger ale for an additional kick – but you can use regular ginger ale as well. Both ways, it’s a refreshing and delicious drink.
Dujardin V.S.O.P. is made with selected French wines, many from the prestigious Charentes region of France. It has a sophisticated, slightly citrus palette that is nice to sip and enjoy along with strong cheeses, dark chocolate, and fruit platters.
Recipe for Horse’s Neck:
- 2 oz Dujardin V.S.O.P. Brandy
- Ginger ale or Spicy Ginger ale
- Sliced lemon for garnish
Fill a short glass with ice, pour in brandy and fill with ginger ale. Garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy!
Dujardin V.S.O.P. Brandy is available at the LCBO amongst other wine & spirits stores. It makes a great gift for the home-bar enthusiast too!
