My Everyday Beauty Look with Almay

My day somewhat begins the same way each morning – one or both of my kiddos wake me up and we cuddle before the inevitable bustle starts. I rely on my husband to make the coffee, since I’m usually still sleepwalking, and I am always incredibly grateful for the first few hot sips. It’s a rare thing to drink that full cup of hot coffee, but I’ll take what I can get.

Snuggles, alarm, coffee, breakfast and more snuggles, the sound of loud cartoons, cool-ish coffee, shower, 5-minute makeup, cold coffee, morning school routine for my son… and go!

The same goes for squeezing in some time to put on my makeup. There are days when I get to do it first thing, and other days when the clock strikes noon as I’m heading out the door to run errands and I think to myself, freeze! Take a moment for yourself – set your daughter up with a book and lip balm of her own, and put on a sweep of eyeshadow, and a bright lip colour. It’s a small thing, but it does make a difference in how I feel! I used to take hours to do my hair and makeup and although my schedule has changed, feeling beautiful shouldn’t have to.

Last week, I shared with you on my Instagram Stories a behind-the-scenes look at my daily life and how I fit in my beauty routine, while being a busy mom with two children. To keep things as easy as possible, I use Almay’s expertly coordinated makeup. Almay has simplified and streamlined my makeup routine, which I genuinely appreciate. As you might have seen on my Instagram Stories, I keep my daily makeup very simple. To create a fresh-faced look (this works even on days when I’m feeling pretty exhausted), I use Almay makeup that brightens, defines and highlights my features. For this natural, fresh-look makeup…

1. I began with an all over application of Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup in Light/Medium, followed by spot application of Age Essentials Concealer in Light to my under eyes and any visible blemishes.
2. Next, I used The Complete Look Palette for Light Skin Tones and followed the “day look” directions that are included on the back. This takes the guess work out of things and cuts time looking for what shadows, blush and lipstick to use!
3. For a bit more definition of my features, I then sculpted my brow with the Brow Pencil in Brunette and used the Liquid Liner in Amethyst to draw a thin line, close to my lash line to really open my eyes.
4. The final touch was the One Coat Multi-Benefit Mascara in Black Brown, which delivers gorgeous volume, length and definition.  Voila!

Whether it’s fitting in a quick beauty routine, a workout, or a healthy lunch – as I showed you in my “Day in the Life” Instagram series, taking care of yourself and letting your natural beauty shine is something all of us busy moms can take some time for. When you feel great about yourself, the people around you benefit from that too! Which reminds me, here is the recipe for my infused water that I shared with you over on IG:

Lemon Ginger Infused Water

• 2 Litres of purified water
• 1 lemon
• Ginger Root, peeled

1. Cut the lemon in half, and squeeze the juice of one of the halves into a pitcher. Slice up the lemon (including the half you squeezed) into thin rings and place into the pitcher.
2. Grate a 4 inch piece of ginger root and put the shavings into the pitcher.
3. Pour the water into the pitcher and let it infuse overnight.
4. Serve cold and enjoy.
