A Unique Picnic Party to Celebrate Father’s Day

Celebrate Dad this Father’s Day with a laid-back picnic party! You can throw his favourite foods on the grill, toss up a selection of side salads, and whip up a decadent dessert (or two!) to show him just how much you appreciate him.

Picnic Party to celebrate Father's Day

Blue Gingham Tableware for a Classic Picnic Theme

My husband is pretty easy going when it comes to throwing him a party and what he loves most is gathering together and having a good time. To keep things simple for this picnic social I picked up some blue gingham paper plates, food baskets, and napkins at the dollar store. Clean up is a cinch yet the impact for this picnic theme is pretty fantastic. Don’t you just love the classic vibe?

For a hot June day, water is a must! I picked up a few blue bottles of Montellier for our table. Keep them chilled in the fridge until it’s time to set up outside. You can even prepare an ice bucket to stick them in, along with other canned beverages you might like to include. I love how the bottles match the colours in our theme!

Father's Day Party Ideas

For the menu, as I mentioned above, consider what dad would love to eat on his special day. Would he like a juicy steak? Classic hamburgers and hot dogs? Or maybe a platter of grilled vegetables? Is there one of your dishes or desserts that he absolutely goes bananas for? I’m sure he’d be pretty happy to see it in the spread!

I created an inspirational menu as a kick off point to help release your own culinary creativity.

Father’s Day Picnic Party Menu

  • Caprese Grilled Steak: this recipe is surprisingly easy to make and it has the ‘wow factor’. It combines a scrumptious, marinated steak – grilled to perfection – topped with the flavourful elements of a Caprese salad. It’s such a great option for an al fresco backyard party.
  • Vegetable Pasta Salad: a veggie-packed pasta salad that screams picnic! Loaded with delicious bell peppers, artichokes, and olives, it’s bursting with freshness.
  • Classic Deviled Eggs: a summer BBQ favourite, deviled eggs are always a hit. Just remember to keep them chilled outside! You can place the serving platter over a basket with an ice pack and a linen on top (to conceal it) and have a cover on top so they don’t bake in the sun.
  • Homemade Drop Biscuits: whether you pick up a mix from the store or whip them up from scratch, biscuits are pretty easy to make and I don’t know too many people who can resist them.
  • Decadent Chocolate Cake: finish of the meal with a mouth-watering piece of chocolate cake! For this menu, I tried my hand at a keto-friendly, fudgy chocolate cake that is positively delightful. It’s made with almond flour and coconut flour, so it’s gluten-free too. The chocolate cream cheese frosting is one of the best I’ve ever had. So, so good! If Dad likes chocolate, he’ll be asking for seconds!
Father's Day Picnic

With just some simple table top decor (that won’t break the bank!), good old home cooking, and a whole lotta love, celebrate Dad on June 16th for Father’s Day in a special, heartfelt way!
